What we're looking for
Ordo is America’s fastest-growing school lunch program, and we’re seeking our first GM to help us manage operations and build supplier relationships as we scale the program. Today we’re specifically looking for someone California-based, but the company currently serves in 18 states. As our first GM, you will be laying the foundation for how we serve public schools in California, and then across the entire country. You will ensure the success of our schools, chefs, and suppliers.
What you’ll do
- Build onboarding materials for public schools, chefs, and suppliers
- Solve any problems we encounter in food service operations for our California public school accounts
- Visit the schools periodically to ensure things are running smoothly
- Handle procurement of equipment, ingredients, milk, and similar for our chefs and schools–manually at first, and then through systems and processes over time
- Manage relationships with suppliers, chefs, and schools across California
- Anticipate roadblocks and bottlenecks as we scale operations across the state
- Optimize chef operations to ensure their success as well as the schools’ success
Who you are
- Previous experience working in operations or serving as a GM or Chief of Staff at a fast-growing startup is preferred
- Not a firefighter, but someone who prevents fires and builds processes and protocols to address them
- Live in spreadsheets, but not afraid to hop on a call or drive over to a farm to handle a problem
- Love wearing multiple hats
- You’re a workhorse–every day is different and things happen, but you take it in stride
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment
- Growth mindset with a desire to rapidly develop skills, learn about the industry, and take on increasing responsibilities
- Experience working in schools or serving schools is a plus
